(Hollywood, CA) On Saturday, December 13, Ronke Oke will be serving the people of the PATH Homeless Shelter. From 2:00pm to 8:00pm, PATH Homeless Shelter will be holding their Annual Christmas Party at 5627 Fernwood Avenue in Hollywood, CA.

This is MNIA's 3rd involvement with the PATH Feed the Homeless Initiative in 2 years. PATH Homeless Shelter’s mission is “to break the cycle of homelessness by empowering people with the tools for self-sufficiency”. By assisting their members with finding work, securing housing, and life empowerment; they are able to give them “A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out”.

MNIA fights for Justice - The Uzoma Okere Story

It remains an unfortunate reality that equality and justice are still not standards held as universal rights - here in the US and around the world. In Nigeria, a woman named Uzoma Okere was severely beat and stripped naked on the streets of Victoria Island Lagos on the third of November 2008.

The Rear Admiral Harry Arogundade ordered her to move her car and when she was unable to move it according to his timing; he lashed out on her in a series of public beatings. This was an extreme case of public humiliation. Instead of the government and higher authorities standing up against this atrocity, the Admiral is supported by the Nigerian Navy.

Uzoma Okere is currently in the process of suing Admiral Arogundade, however it is my opinion that it is in the hands of the people to correct the government when they forget who it is that they are meant to serve.

Similar acts of injustice and inequality happen frequently around the world but the more that we all stand against them, the closer we will become to a more enlightened and just world. It is our duty to make our opinions and voices heard.

Please join Miss Nigeria in America 2008 in signing this petition against the acts of Admiral Harry Arogundade and the Nigerian Navy; and furthermore, against those who misuse the authority that we, the people, have given them solely to make for a more peaceful and reasonable world.

DC's New HotSpot on Thursday Nights

Last Thursday, was the launching of DC's newest and best Thursday night party at 1223 on Connecticut Ave. MX Nightlife and Glamour Life Entertainment are taking over the night, and they opened it up giving ladies complimentary bottles of champagne.

They gave out complimentary bottles of champagne to the ladies and I've never seen this many women popping bottles! There were groups of ladies that each got bottles of champagne. This past weekend, I had a blast with the beautiful delegates of the 2008 Miss Nigeria In America Pageant. These women have worked passionately towards raising awareness and money for their campaigns and visions for the prosperity of Nigeria. I commend them all for an outstanding performance and a tremendous amount of hard work.

It was a delight to be around such friendly and positive young women. Role Models and Leaders in their community, the delegates of the 2008 Miss Nigeria In America Pageant are the real deal. I wish you all the very best in all of your endeavours! It surely doesn't stop here!

Summer Fun!, Review: Playstation I

The Cognoscenti ladies were present this weekend at Riverside Park for Buck N Harm’s Playstation I Event. We’d like to personally congratulate Buck N' Harm Entertainment for an absolute success on Saturday. The food was so good! I wish I would have packed some Suya to go. The atmosphere was set quite exquisitely with music, nice weather, and plenty of beautiful people.

If you were there, you may have spotted Tribe X Entertainment, Tonestar, Ovacom Media, SoSo Selective, Madarocka, Nkeiru, Mr. Naija, the Green White Green Cr3w, Oy of Nylah’s Catering, and so many others. It was absolutely fabulous to be among so many beautiful and talented people this weekend. I am certainly looking forward to Playstation II, coming soon. PMA Graces the Runway, Preview: Prototype Modeling Agency

September 2008, Prototype Modeling Agency will be making its debut at Cognoscenti’s premiere launch event. Cognoscenti Management plans to showcase an elite group of business savvy, promotional models that take serious interest in re-defining the world of fashion in an entrepreneurial way. Prototype modeling is a vehicle for models to market themselves and network with other professionals.

PMA works closely with Cognoscenti Management’s Event Services Team. Models are given opportunities, through Cognoscenti Management, to become contracted to several events, shoots, and fundraisers. CEO, Randi Inniss, says:
