Have you noticed that technology is starting to shift gears from the Internet to Mobile? I read an article in the NY Times today entitled, "Do All Small Businesses Need A Mobile Strategy?" by Lora Kolodny (March 5, 2010) - and it made to valid points while reviewing last month's Mobile Premier Awards at the Mobile World Congress.
In the article, she encourages companies to try to become more visible to mobile devices from making website adjustments for mobile browsers to checking to see if your company is listed for apps like Google Maps, Yahoo Local, Nokia's On Prime Place, Microsoft's Bing Local Listings, Yelp, and Foursquare. She suggests that Text Messaging Alerts may be a great addition to marketing plans (i.e., AdMob, GetJar, Mofuse, Mippin, and MediaLets).
Definitely food for thought! Plus, so true- My blackberry is taking over my life, and before that, my Androids (even now for my Google Maps App) were a daily necessity outside of phone calls and text messaging. I'm going to have to think on this.
